Metallica have always been keen to pay homage to their influences. Lars Ulrich is often seen sporting a Diamond Head T-Shirt and throughout much of 2007 and 2008 James Hetfield could be seen wearing a Witchfinder General T-Shirt to most interviews and TV appearances. This gave a bit of a boost to Witchfinder General
So, whose T-Shirt would Phil Cope of Witchfinder General wear? Liam, webmaster of the Witchfinder General website, sent me an email telling me that Phil was fond of wearing a Jameson Raid T-Shirt, since they were one of his favourite bands. I was a little sceptical at first, but he put me in contact with Phil and he sent me a picture of Witchfinder General in action.

It turns out Phil is a massive Jameson Raid fan and he was very happy to send me a picture of himself, right, with his T-Shirt, EP and the poster he liberated from the Roxon club, Wolverhampton in 1977.
Witchfinder General and Pagan Alter are considered to be the two groups that founded ‘Doom Meta’ in the UK.. Massively influential, you can find their website here:
