Jameson Raid were a hard hitting Heavy Rock band from Birmingham. From 1975 to 1983 they built up a big following with their impressive live show, great sound and excellent songs. They went on to support many famous well known acts at some prestigious gigs. They soon acquired a fearsome reputation after blowing certain name bands off the stage when playing the support slot. I expect everyone who saw them, like me, just assumed they were going to be really huge one day.
In a fair and just world, they would have been.
Mysteriously, bizarrely, (maddeningly! Frustratingly!) after 1982 they disappeared from the music scene having somehow managed to avoid a major record contract. Their legacy was two self released EPs which have an underground cult following among collectors and rock aficionados, but very little has been heard of the group themselves - until now...
Struggling to find info on this group on the Internet I decided they needed a web site.
In a moment of rashness I took upon myself the task of making one. And here it is.
What happened to the band and why they seemed to disappear has always been a big puzzle to me. I have had to wait for someone to invent the Internet, the World Wide Web and the Personal Computer. And yes, it has taken me ten years or so to get around to it....
This is an unofficial fan site.
That means the band has had no say in the content or layout of the site. Therefore all the shortcomings in design and the mistakes are my fault. However, I have had a great deal of help and support from the band, especially Terry Dark for pictures, files and patient answers to loads of questions, Ian Smith and Phil Kimberley for their frank (!) and in depth emails and John Ace for his biography.
